Her birth date was March 29, 1985 in Roswell New Mexican. Gerina Michel Mendoza is her name at birth. Gerina Stevenson is the daughter of Mexican parents Rita Stevenson (mother) and Alan Stevenson (father). Stevenson is American and has Mexican-American heritage. Her desire to play sports started as a young toddler. Gerina began playing golf after she was 15 years old. Gerina attended Goddard High School for her high school education. The school won at the New Mexico State Golf Tournament at the age of high school. She also played volleyball at the national level. 2003was the year she started her studies at the University of Texas. During the senior period of her career she was the winner of every event in which she competed. During her undergraduate career she was named Conference USA individual champion player of the year and UTEP Female Athletics Player of the Year.
